Founders, party of one, your table is ready!
|
| I don't have a political party. I could never
be a Democrat again. They have turned into socialists, race and class
panderers and shrill anti-war fanatics. I hold my nose and vote Republican
sometimes. Ick. The GOP supports Christian fundamentalism, the imposition
of their morals on everyone. They claim to be for smaller government, but
they have grown the size of the government. They claim to be in favor of
fiscal restraint, and then spend to put a drunken sailor to shame. The
Libertarians are a political party in name only. Collectively, they
couldn't come up with enough sense to pound sand in a rathole. They are
worthless, ineffective, and they can't get elected to any national office.
The New Founders Party is a party of one. Hell, if we can have an Army
of One, we can have a Party of One.
We need to start over. |
So, how to start over again?
|
| We have this marvelous thing called the
Constitution. It came some years after that original wonderful thing
called the Declaration of Independence. These represented a good start.
IMNSHO, they provide a firm foundation for starting over. Have some things
changed in the past 230+ years? Certainly. Have we updated the
Constitution to correct or modernize only those things needed? Of course
not! Don't be ridiculous! Let us review these documents. How much is still
true? How much is still needed? How much has been changed that should not
have been touched? |
Let us once again declare our independence
|
| In the course of human events, governments are
instituted among men to protect our natural, human rights and to guarantee
civil rights to their citizens. Our inalienable rights include rights to
life, liberty and property. But whenever any government becomes
destructive of these rights, it is the right of the people to alter or to
abolish that government.
Our government has become destructive of our natural rights. It is time
to peacefully alter it. I could go on, but as a new Declaration of
Independence, that would do.
|
Time to reconstitute the Constitution
|
| It is too early to do it right now, but after
flushing the current crop of scummy politicians, it would be best to have
another Constitutional Convention. The best way to update it would be to
start with the original plus the Bill of Rights and reexamine all the
amendments since.
Certain amendments should certainly go away or be changed:
14th - Deny citizenship rights to anyone born in the U.S. when the
parents have entered illegally.
16th - Repeal and replace with the Fair
Tax.
17th - Repeal and return some representation to state legislatures.
Certain new amendments are needed. The most urgent need is to curb the
nearly unlimited power of the Supreme Court. The court legislates
from the bench.
Not all Supreme Court decisions are bad, even if they have no real
basis in the Constitution. The court created for us a right to privacy.
I'm not at all sure it is in the Constitution. Let's amend the
Constitution and guarantee it as a constitutional right.
The federal government has grown far too strong. Its power should
definitely be limited. The interstate commerce clause is an excuse for the
federal government to do as it pleases with unlimited jurisdiction. This
needs clarification.
