We Need a New Founders Party

 

	National Security - You cannot have a nation unless you protect it. The founders knew that the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time by the blood of patriots and tyrants. We have a strong military. We need to keep it that way. No greater tyranny exists in the world today than Islamic Terrorism. We must fight them where they are, as Jefferson sent our military to fight the Barbary Pirates to protect our citizens. And when we commit to the fight, we must support the effort until we achieve victory, not cut and run when the going gets tough and public support flags. They will continue to hate us, no matter what we do, but we are made safer by remaining strong. They attack us when they perceive we are weak. Don't believe it? Just ask Israel.
	Jobs and Wages - The government has almost no role here. Jefferson said that a government powerful enough to give you all you want has the power to take everything you have. The government should provide for the health and safety of workers, and at the local, not the federal, level where possible. The federal government, all government, must be cut where possible.
	Energy Independence - Again, government needs to provide for health and safety. Public lands are for the public good. We should allow oil exploration and extraction while protecting our citizens and public land. Today's technology allows us to drill for oil and transport it more safely than ever before.
	Affordable Health Care -  The government needs to get out of and stay out of the health care business. We need to reign in the trial lawyers and institute tort reform. And we need to encourage people to stand on their own two feet. If we socialize our health care system, we get the same sort of health care you can expect in Canada or the UK. You won't like it, if you survive, that is.
	Retirement Security - The government has no role here. We need to cut government and get government out of this business altogether. If people put into retirement savings what they put into Social Security, they would retire "rich". Instead, the government takes their money and wastes it, and then the federal government dictates how much, or little, you will get when you retire. For some reason, politicians think it is their money. It is not. It is YOUR money, but when you give it to the government, you give them control over you. They take your money, and they give you a little bit back to buy your vote.
	College Access for All - The government has no role here. None whatsoever. This is just pandering, buying votes. The government can't even get kids to graduate from free high school. You build character by setting high goals and achieving them. People value things more highly when they work hard for them. Life is hard, and not everything is free. Nor should it be. Grow up, take responsibility for your life, and pay your own way. The nanny state can't give you everything as a handout. TANSTAAFL. There ain't no such thing as a free lunch. College isn't free. Someone is paying for it. If the government takes money from one person at the point of a gun and pays your way, that is just socialism. And socialism always fails sooner or later.

What do I not see there?

Freedom. Obviously not important. Our forefathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. That is not what either mainstream political party believes today. Our freedoms are being stolen away by the left and by the right. The Socialists (FKA Democrats) want to take money at the point of a gun from those who have earned it and give that money to people who will vote for them. They are heavily financed by their rich people (entertainers, trial lawyers, heir-heads, etc., ie. people who have lots of money and feel guilty about it). The Bible-Beater Party (FKA Republicans) take money from people at the point of a gun, they just don't claim to want to take as much, especially from their rich people (businessmen and corporations, those with "old" money,  and conservative religious fundamentalists. Neither party gives a tinker's damn about freedom or liberty, and they certainly don't care about equality.
