This was a political parody for the light rail issue voted on in Austin in
2000.
It was voted down. But I am sure the new mayor will get it back on the
ballot soon. (These are the original comments above. Austin approved
commuter rail a few years later.)
Light Rail in Austin
(parody of "Jackson" by Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood)
That we need light rail in Austin
Is somethin' I really doubt.
We been talkin' 'bout light rail
Ever since the plan came out.
Light rail in Austin
What a dumb idea
Light rail in Austin
Scares the heck outta me
We need light rail in Austin
Like we need a hole in the head
You'd think once we'd seen the price tag
The whole dang deal would be dead
Light rail in Austin
Where'd you come up with that?
Light rail in Austin
Don't you know where you're at?
Who's gonna walk to the station
In 110 degree heat?
Then 8 more blocks at the far end
When their boots are stickin' to the street?
Light rail in Austin
I've heard enough about it
Light rail in Austin
What a load of manure
Repeat and fade…
That we need light rail in Austin
Is somethin' I really doubt.
Do like we did up in Cedar Park
And vote them rascals out
