Origin of the
Not So Humble Hamsters
|
|
I was talked into
reposting a compilation of all my parodies in the fall of 2000, over
20 tunes at the time. In honor of the occasion, a new parody was
born. This parody was an experiment in special effects,
specifically pitch shifting, similar to the effect David Seville used
to create his Chipmunks. Around this same time one of the
personalities in the MP3 discussion group started referring to MP3
adherents as "hamsters" for reasons that are entirely
unclear to me. Thus The Hamsters were born. It later
occurred to me that this group name might have be claimed already,
and sure enough, someone did do some Chipmunk work as "The
Hamsters", so my Hamsters became the "Not So Humble
Hamsters" for that reason. They are, from left to right,
Gypsy, Cephus, and Stewrat, namesakes of three regulars in the
MP3 newsgroups. My voice is not so terribly interesting to
many, so
the Not So Humble Hamsters have been a large part of the C. H. C. parody work from
that
point forward.
